Meanings, severity levels, safe checks you can perform, and when to call a technician.

Enter the code shown on your refrigerator display

Is it safe to keep using it?

Depends on code severity. Low/Medium codes often allow continued use, High severity requires immediate stop.

Can error codes be reset?

Some codes clear after power cycle. Persistent codes indicate underlying issues needing repair.

When should I stop using it?

Stop immediately for water leak codes, burning smell, or any High severity error.

Low Medium High
Code Meaning Severity Common Symptom
CC Compressor control fault High Both compartments warm up progressively as the compressor is unable to run or maintain the refrigerant cycle needed for cooling. View CF Condenser fan motor fault High The back or bottom of the refrigerator near the compressor is much hotter than normal because the condenser fan is not moving air across the condenser coils and compressor. View CI Ice maker communication fault Medium The ice maker completely stops cycling and ejecting ice cubes, even though water supply and freezer temperature are adequate. View DE Door open too long Low One or both doors are not fully closed, allowing warm room air to enter and warm the compartment contents. View DF Defrost failure High Heavy frost or ice buildup is visible on the back wall of the freezer or around the evaporator cover panel. View FF Frozen evaporator / defrost fail High Food in the fresh food section feels warm or reaches unsafe temperatures above 40°F despite the compressor running continuously. View HRS High refrigerator temp alarm High Food in the refrigerator section feels warm or is spoiling prematurely; a thermometer placed inside reads above 40°F. View PF Power failure detected Low Depending on the duration of the outage, refrigerator and freezer temperatures may have risen. Food at risk of spoilage may show signs of warmth or partial thawing. View SY CE System communication error Medium Some or all buttons on the Monogram touch panel or display fail to respond, or the display shows garbled information alongside the SY CE code. View SY EF Evaporator fan system fault High Without evaporator fan circulation, cold air from the evaporator coil does not distribute through the refrigerator or freezer, causing both sections to warm progressively. View TC Temperature too warm — freezer compartment High Frozen foods feel soft, partially thawed, or have visible ice crystal loss on their surfaces. View TF Temperature too warm — fresh food High Refrigerated items such as dairy, produce, and leftovers feel warm or are at room temperature. View
