GE Monogram dishwasher power cord recall affects select 2019–2021 built-in dishwasher models that can overheat at the power cord connection, creating a fire and burn hazard in your kitchen. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and GE Appliances jointly announced this recall in April 2021, urging owners to stop using the appliance immediately.
This recall matters because an overheating power cord can char surrounding cabinetry, ignite nearby combustibles, or expose household members to live electrical contacts. Several incidents of cord discoloration and minor fires were reported before the recall was initiated, making prompt action essential for household safety.
Affected models and production dates: The recall covers GE Monogram built-in dishwashers with model numbers beginning with ZDT (e.g., ZDT925SSJSS, ZDT870SIFII) manufactured between January 2019 and March 2021. Production date codes are printed on the serial-number label inside the door frame. Serial numbers in the range VR100001 through VR321500 are included in the recall.
Hazard and symptoms: Affected units can develop excessive resistance at the terminal block where the supply cord connects to the dishwasher chassis. Symptoms include a burning smell near the base of the unit, visible scorch marks or discoloration on the cord jacket, tripped circuit breakers, or intermittent power loss during the wash cycle. In severe cases, users have reported smoke emanating from underneath the kickplate.
- Stop using the dishwasher immediately and unplug it from the wall outlet or shut off the dedicated circuit breaker.

- Do not attempt to repair the cord yourself; only factory-trained technicians should perform the replacement.
